President’s Message

By: Dr. LeeAnn Brown, D.O.

The 26th Annual PCOMS Student Scholarship Golf Tournament drew a record number of 120 players. Thanks to the efforts of Chairman Scott Ray, DO, and our PCOMS staff, the scholarship fund has reached the goal of providing $5,000 to the St. Petersburg College Health Sciences Program. Our thanks to the Belleair Country Club for allowing this tournament to be played at this prestigious golf course.

On Saturday, August 9th, PCOMS will host our 3rd Annual Student Health Fair at the St. Petersburg College Caruth Health Sciences Center. This event provides school physicals to over 200 students. This is held in conjunction with the Pinellas County Health Department. PCOMS will have twelve doctors and twelve residents conducting the physical exams, as well as twenty volunteer workers and ten service organization exhibits.

Samuel Gubernick, DO, PCOMS Past President, serves as Chairman of this event.

On Thursday, September 18th, PCOMS will host our annual “Legislative Night” dinner at the Hilton Carillon Hotel at 7:00 P.M. This event provides PCOMS members an opportunity to meet our county, state and federal legislators and candidates to discuss current issues affecting the practice of medicine. This event has the atmosphere of a political convention, and this will be a special event preceding elections on Tuesday, November 4th. Recording artist “Vanelis” will present a medley of patriotic songs. You won’t want to miss this exciting night as we also present our “Legislator of the Year” award.

These are exciting times for our society. Come out and join us at all of our special events.

Fraternally,
Lee Ann Brown, DO
President
