A Message to our members

Dear PCOMS Members and Colleagues,

As we reflect on a wonderful and productive season for our society, I am proud to share highlights from two of our most successful recent events.

On December 5th, PCOMS held its Annual Holiday Dinner at the beautiful Sheraton Sand Key Resort. The evening was filled with fellowship, celebration, and gratitude. Many of our guests expressed how much they enjoyed the food stations arranged throughout the room, noting they preferred this format over a traditional seated dinner. It was wonderful to see colleagues, spouses, and friends mingling so comfortably in such a festive setting.

One of the most meaningful moments of the evening was the presentation of our annual PCOMS scholarships by Dr. Michael Hadley, PCOMS Scholarship Chairman. We were honored to recognize two outstanding future osteopathic physicians:

  • Evran Ural, M.S.E., Ph.D., Class of 2028, Kiran C. Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine – Tampa Campus
  • Natalie Nagib, M.P.H., CPH, Class of 2028, Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine – Bradenton Campus

These impressive students exemplify the future of osteopathic medicine, and we are proud to support them in their journey.

Shortly thereafter, we hosted the 37th Annual Osteopathic Winter Seminar at the Sheraton Sand Key Resort on Clearwater Beach. This year’s seminar was an extraordinary success, with 660 registered physicians and 13 exhibitors participating. The strong attendance reflects the continued growth and vitality of our osteopathic community.

A special event at the seminar was the Physician Reception held Thursday evening in the Skyview Room. The event was enjoyed by student physicians, resident physicians, and attending physicians alike. It was truly inspiring to see multiple generations of osteopathic physicians socializing together, engaging in thoughtful conversations, sharing experiences, and building meaningful professional connections. Events like this strengthen mentorship, encourage collaboration, and ensure a bright future for our profession.

The Presidential Luncheon on Friday was another highlight. We were honored to welcome distinguished guests including Robert Piccinini, President of the American Osteopathic Association, and James Towry, President of the Florida Osteopathic Medical Association. Their presence underscored the importance of the work being done here in Pinellas County.

During the luncheon, we were proud to present awards recognizing several of our local first responders. These dedicated professionals serve on the front lines every day, often in the most challenging and unpredictable circumstances. Their courage, compassion, and unwavering commitment to the citizens of Pinellas County make a profound impact on the health, safety, and well-being of our community. It was an honor to publicly acknowledge their service and to express our deep appreciation for the vital role they play alongside physicians in caring for our residents.

In addition, we also had the privilege of presenting our annual PCOMS awards. While full-page articles will further highlight these exceptional physicians, I would like to extend heartfelt congratulations to:

  • Dr. Joseph Namey – Distinguished Service Award
  • Dr. Jennifer Hayes – Lifetime Achievement Award
  • Dr. Linda Murray – Lifetime Achievement Award

Each of these physicians has demonstrated unwavering dedication to our profession, our patients, and our community. Their leadership and service embody the very best of osteopathic medicine.

Thank you to all who attended, supported, and contributed to these events. Your continued engagement strengthens PCOMS and ensures that our society remains vibrant, relevant, and forward-thinking. I look forward to all we will accomplish together in the months and years ahead.

With appreciation and pride,

Kevin A. Ache, DO, FACOFP
